The Honorable Mr. Dang Huy Dong is a former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Planning and Investment (“MPI”), former Deputy Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission and former Chairman of the Vietnam Small and Medium Enterprises (“SME”) Development Fund.

 

He has almost 40 years of experience in international engagements and has spoken at many high level international events including the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.  He was instrumental in the development of legislation to promote economic development and the future prosperity of Vietnam covering public and private sector, socio economic development, master planning and foreign direct investment.  He has played a pivotal role in advising Vietnam’s senior leadership on issues of national and international significance to support the economic development as Vietnam plays an increasingly important role within ASEAN and the broader international community. Throughout his illustrious career Mr Dong has developed and exceptional network across the political and business arena.

 

Mr Dong has always been a strong proponent of sustainable development and understands the benefits of managed foreign direct investment in Vietnam in order to underpin strong economic development.  He has a clear vision and a strong focus on infrastructure, clean energy and the environment.  He has been appointed as Advisor for Economic and Investment Promotion by the People’s Committee of Bac Lieu Province as a result of a distinguished career and his support for a range of initiatives including the 3200 MW Bac Lieu integrated LNG to Power project. He is  President of Vietnam’s Planning & Development Institute (“PDI”)  which undertakes joint research programmes and provides advisory alongside consultancy services, primarily in the fields of economic development, sustainability, investment, and planning.  Mr Dong holds a master's degree in Public Management.
